Restrictions in Srinagar tomorrow to prevent Muharram processions, educational institutions to remain shut

SRINAGAR

Restrictions will remain in forces in summer capital Srinagar tomorrow to enforce the ban on Muharram processions which have remained banned since militancy erupted in Kashmir in 1989.

Officials said that restrictions will be imposed in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Shaheed Gunj, Batamaloo, Shergari, Kothibagh, Ram Munshi Bagh, Maisuma, and Kral Khud police stations.

He said the restrictions will be imposed as a preventive measure in view of eighth day of Muharram to maintain law and order.

The official said that all schools and colleges will remain closed in Srinagar tomorrow in view of Muharram processions

He said the authorities have decided to close schools and colleges in the district as a “precautionary measure”.
