Hizb ul Mujahedeen on Tuesday rebutted reports suggesting that the outfit chief Syed Salahuddin was stepping down in the foreseeable future.
In an emailed statement issued to Srinagar-based news agency CNS, Hizb spokesperson Salim Hashmi said the report was in circulation some time ago and has been floated again under a “well-planned conspiracy”.
“This report has been circulated on the behest of Indian agencies. Syed Salahuddin is the head of Hizb and United Jihad Council and there is no truth about the report published by an Indian Daily,” Hashmi was quoted as saying.
Hashmi said Salahuddin enjoys support of militants and freedom loving people.
“India has failed on every front in Kashmir and now it is using its media to malign the image of UJC Chief,” said Hashmi.
