South Kashmir cleric Qazi Yasir who was recently in news after a video of him masturbating during a video chat went viral on social media, was on Monday booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
Reports said that Yasir and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) leader Ashiq Hussain Narchoor were booked under PSA and shifted to Hira Nagar jail in Jammu.
Yasir was arrested last week after he announced plans to hold a “mock referendum” in south Kashmir on the eve of municipal polls on October 7 and asked people to choose between “Azaadi and India”.
Addressing a presser, Qazi Yasir had said that his organization, Ummat-e-Islami will place ballot boxes at all the main squares of south Kashmir and hold a “mock referendum”.
Yasir was on Friday removed as the South Kashmir Mirwaiz and also sacked from the President’s post of Tahqeeqat-e-Islami after an undated video allegedly showing him in a dirty conversation and masturbating with a young girl on video chat, went viral.
Narchoor, a tehsil president of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Anantnag, was arrested last month.
