SRINAGAR
A minor boy injured in an accidental grenade blast in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district last week succumbed at a hospital in Srinagar on Wednesday.
Two boys sustained splinter injuries while reportedly fiddling with a grenade they found at an encounter site in Drabgam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police official said two 13-year-old boys identified as Sharafat Bashir and Junaid Bilal found the grenade near the gunfight site in Drabgam where two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants were killed.
The teens, he said, were fiddling with explosive near causing the grenade to explode near Rohana area, five kilometres from the encounter site.
“Two boys were injured in the blast and were shifted to PHC Rohama where from they were shifted to district hospital Pulwama,” he had said.
Bilal was later referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment where he succumbed today.
