Police detains traders’ body chief Yasin Khan

SRINAGAR

The Jammu and Kashmir police detained Yasin Khan, President of the Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA), a body of local traders and manufacturers, here on Wednesday.

Sources in the KEA said Khan was detained immediately after he reached his office on Wednesday morning.

A KEA spokesperson said Khan, who also heads the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, was whisked away to Kothi Bagh police station soon after he reached his office.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), a separatist conglomerate headed by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, have urged people to observe ‘Human Rights Week’ from December 3.

They have asked people to hold peaceful protests and candlelight vigils after evening prayers to highlight alleged human rights violations in Kashmir.
