Mentally-unsound homeless man from Haryana dies of cold exposure in Uri

SRINAGAR

A mentally-unsound non-local resident living in a tin shed in Uri town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was found dead on Tuesday morning, police said.

A police spokesman said the deceased, Mahinder Pal Singh, a resident of Haryana,  was found dead by locals near Sumo stand Uri early Tuesday morning.

“A police team rushed to the spot and recovered the body,” he said, adding that the body has been taken to sub-district hospital Uri for medico-legal formalities.

Singh, he said, was putting up in a tin shed near the taxi stand from the past four years.

He said the homeless man might have died due to cold exposure.

“A case under 174 CrPc has been registered and further investigations in this regard has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of death,” he added.
