A Pulwama resident has alleged that an army officer forced him to pose with a gun or get killed in an encounter. Pertinently, the man’s younger brother is an ex-army man currently in custody for alleged role in killing of his colleague Aurangzeb who was killed by militants last year.
According to a report by the The Kashmir Walla, Tawseef Ahmad Wani, 27, a resident of Achagoza area of Pulwama, alleged he was beaten and tortured in the 44 RR camp of the army in Shadimarg, Pulwama.
Wani alleged that an Army officer, Major Shukla forced him to pose with a gun or get killed in an encounter.

“I went to the camp to meet Major Shukla, I was asked to show my identity. But, after that I was tortured by his (army) men, till I fell unconscious,” the report quoted Wani as saying.
“They took off my clothes and started beating me. While three were beating me, two of them also made a video of me,” he claimed.
He said, according to the report: “Major Shukla threatened me and said pose with a gun and post the photograph by tomorrow; if not, I will kill you in an encounter in the coming days.”
Wani is a student pursuing Master in Arts in IGNOU and has three siblings, including one sister and two brothers, while his “younger brother is serving in the army.”
Wani, the report said, was shifted to sub-district hospital Pulwama for treatment on the evening of 4 February, from where he was referred to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital. His condition is said to be stable.
The report said that calls to Pulwama police chief went unanswered while the district police denied having any info about the incident.
Srinagar-based Defence PRO Col. Rajesh Kalia said the matter will be looked into.
