Two drug peddlers nabbed in Baramulla

SRINAGAR

Two drug peddlers were arrested along with contraband poppy straw in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said today.

“Today in the afternoon, a naka was established by Baramulla Police at Watergam crossing and during vehicle checking a Sumo vehicle (JK05A-1637) was checked and two bags containing about 08 kilograms of contraband substance resembling poppy Straw (Fuki) was recovered from the possession of two persons who were later on identified as Tawseef Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Hamid and Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi both residents of Kalantara,” said a police spokesperson.

“Tawseef Ahmad was arrested while Showkat taking advantage of chaos and traffic jam tried to escape from the spot. However he was successfully tracked and later arrested,” he said.

“In this regard, a case FIR NO. 49/2018  under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered and investigation set into motion. Further investigation is going on.”
