The legal metrology department, Monday, penalised a private school and a book seller in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district for violating norms.
A statement said that a joint team of LMD and Food Safety conducted inspections of various schools and booksellers in Sumbal sub-division of Bandipora during which it was found that Greenland Public School Inderkoot, Sumbal was involved in selling of textbooks inside school premises.
“The books were being supplied by SS Stationery of Inderkoot. A case was registered against Green Valley School Naidkhai Sumbal and also an fine of Rs 25,000 was imposed,” the statement said.
It said that the team also imposed a fine of Rs 6000 on Modern Book Depot Bori Kadal for selling textbooks at exorbitant rates.
