District Development Commissioner, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today urged Sarpanchs and Panchs to be ambassadors of change and part of the electoral awareness generation programme launched by the district administration.
The DDC was speaking at an awareness programme organized for Panchs, Sarpanchs and Ward members of the district to intimate them about EVM (VVAT). The awareness camp was organised under Systematic Voter Education Electoral Participation (SVEEP) here at New Conference Hall.
The DDC termed the elected members as an important part of the government and urged them to coordinate in creating electoral awareness among the people to strengthen the democracy.
Highlighting importance of elections and people’s participation in polls, the DDC directed concerned to make the polling stations accessible to all including with the persons with special needs.
She asked to ensure basic minimum facilities including installation of ramps for easy access to the disabled persons at all polling stations. She further said that no genuine voter will be left un-registered in the district to ensure maximum participation in the upcoming polls.
Meanwhile, the DDC interacted with the elected members and assured them that they will be given full cooperation by all the concerned departments for the development of their respective areas.
